Using Student Cyber Portal
These terms explain the acceptable use of Student Cyber Portal by schools, colleges, teachers, students, administrators, and support users.
Last updated: 9 September 20261. About the portal
Student Cyber Portal is an education platform used to support cyber security and digital forensics learning, portfolio evidence, teacher assessment, progress tracking, practice exams, and organisation administration.
The portal is provided for authorised education use only. Access may be managed by a school, college, training provider, or portal administrator.
2. Who may use the portal
You may use the portal only if you have been given an authorised student, teacher, staff, or administrator account. You must use your own account and must not allow another person to use your login details.
Administrators and teachers must only access learner records and organisation settings where they have a genuine education, support, safeguarding, assessment, or administration reason to do so.
3. Account security
You are responsible for keeping your password and authenticator access secure. If you believe your account has been accessed by someone else, tell your teacher, organisation administrator, or portal administrator as soon as possible.
The portal may require multi-factor authentication, account verification, account lockout after repeated failed sign-in attempts, and activity logging to protect users and organisations.
4. Acceptable use
You must use the portal lawfully, safely, and respectfully. You must not attempt to bypass security controls, access another user’s work without permission, upload malicious content, interfere with the service, or use the portal for real-world unauthorised cyber activity.
Cyber security learning tasks must be completed in a safe, authorised, and controlled environment. Practical work must follow the instructions given by the school, college, teacher, or assessor.
5. Student work and assessment
Students are responsible for submitting their own work unless their teacher has clearly allowed group work, support work, or a reasonable adjustment. Teachers and assessors may review, comment on, download, archive, and assess work for education and quality assurance purposes.
The portal helps store evidence and feedback, but the organisation remains responsible for assessment decisions, qualification rules, internal quality assurance, and any awarding body requirements.
6. Service availability
Reasonable efforts are made to keep the portal available and secure. Access may be interrupted for maintenance, updates, backups, security action, hosting issues, or events outside the administrator’s control.
Users should follow local organisation processes for deadlines, evidence backup, extensions, and assessment decisions if the portal is unavailable.
7. Suspension, archiving, and removal
Accounts may be suspended, archived, or removed when access is no longer required, where an organisation asks for this, where there is a security concern, or where these terms are breached.
Archived student accounts may remain visible for a limited retention period before deletion, depending on the organisation’s retention settings and legal or assessment requirements.
8. Privacy and data protection
The portal processes personal data and student work. The Privacy Statement explains what information is used, why it is used, and how users can raise questions about their information.
Schools and colleges should make sure their own privacy notices explain their use of the portal where required.
Read the Privacy Statement9. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated when the portal changes, where legal or security requirements change, or where clearer guidance is needed. The updated page will show the latest revision date.
10. Questions
If you have questions about using the portal, contact your school or college administrator first. School administrators can then contact the portal provider or support contact used for their service agreement.
